Candles can be lit by their vapor trail

It’s due to the fact that the flame is a result of the combustion of the wax.  Given that the vapor trail is essentially the fuel of the flame, the energy can be transferred back to the wick.  The wick burns slower and hold the flame to be fueled by the wax vapor; it acts as the  interface for the reaction.
