okay, folks. i wanna talk about the johnlock ‘eye sex’ thing.

i hear the impetus to scream out, “now kiss!” i really do. but tbh i think it would be a waste of an opportunity.

because the thing that makes me hold my breath when they look at each other is just the pure fact that they actually see each other.

i don’t think anyone has looked at sherlock the way john does. possibly ever. 

he’s said no one reacts to his deductions the way john does, and even lestrade can’t look him in the eye the way john can. 

this is the true fearlessness that is john hamish watson, md. he accepts sherlock for who he is, marvels at his talent and completely overlooks the fact that sherlock doesn’t know it’s ‘not nice’ to stare. 

so when sherlock moves in close for maximum observance, john doesn’t flinch, but looks right back. and not in a ‘oh-you’re observing-me-i-should-stand-still’ sort of way like he does with mycroft. he does it in a ‘oh-look-at-you-observing-me-how-do-you-do-it-you-fascinating-creature’ sort of way. 

(and we know there is nothing sherlock gets more obsessed with than obsession…must i remind you of our dear jim…?)

cuz then it becomes this brilliant feedback loop of sherlock observing, john being fascinated and opening up to the observation, and sherlock being even more intrigued and observing john’s fascination.

it’s fucking gorgeous and heart-stopping and if they kissed i’d be all, “stop! you were learning so much about each other!”

they become locked, folks. and it’s so beautiful it hurts.
