So I’m watching the pool scene again, the part where John grabs Jim so the sniper can’t get a clear shot. 

And I figured, Jim must have had a code word, a phrase or signal that told the sniper to turn the gun on Sherlock, just like Sherlock has ‘vatican cameos’ for danger.
