People don’t appreciate enough that Hogwarts had a giant squid in the lake. Not another magical beast. Not even a normal squid with magical properties. They just had a straight up giant squid in the lake and everyone was cool about it.

I’m sure its name’s something cutesy like ‘Cuddlebert’ because Hagrid raised it from a teensy little blob with teensy little tentacles and it still remembers him as its ‘Mum’.  Now and then Hagrid goes down to the lake when no one’s around with an enormous barrel of fish and feeds Cuddlebert, who hugs him with its enormous tentacles, nearly squishing Hagrid while almost drowning him, and yet Hagrid sloshes back to his little house on the grounds with the biggest, soppiest grin on his hairy face.
