One thing after another

I don’t even know what to do anymore, it’s literally like we just can’t win.  First hubby’s motorcycle is stolen, then Geico shafts us royally on the claim (never, never NEVER get their motorcycle insurance – whatever they tell you is covered, isn’t, no matter how proactive you are about it), then his Jeep suffers a fatal break that effectively totals it.  It’s still limping, but it could turn into a jeep taco at any time, at the merest glance at a pothole, so it’s dangerous and anxiety inducing, and only to be used when he doesn’t have another choice.  Incidentally, and not to go all GoT, but winter is coming, so it’s going to be necessary all the time /really soon/, and there’s no money to replace that.  That’s just getting us up to date (for the last few months) – now….

Now, roughly a grand worth of tools and equipment got stolen, almost certainly by his buddy’s landlord (he was helping fix /his/ car; so the welder, the grinder, the jacks, the gas-hookup, a bunch of parts and handtools, as well as /my/ dad’s airtools….) – who is of course being incredibly unhelpful about the whole theft (they were moving out this week, were paid up until the end of the month, and suddenly all of this buddy’s property was tossed out of the house – largely broken in it’s ejection – and all the things, like my husband’s property, that looked like it was worth something was gone), and when they called the police, they were told basically that there’s nothing they could do about it because it was a ‘civil matter’.

I just…  I don’t even know.  We’re struggling to get by as it is, and it really is one incredibly, expensively shit thing after another.  I am so, so upset right now, and there’s literally nothing I can do about any of this.  Now hubby just looks defeated, and that’s almost worse, because he’s been busting his ass trying to do better for us, and every time it looks like we might make back some of the ground we lost, we get shoved back even further.
