In my experience, RPers and Writers alike enjoy one thing: Making characters suffer. This little guide is supposed to help you with keeping injuries and the First Aid – in case you want to patch your character back together – realistic.
I am no medical professional, but I dare say I picked up a thing or two during my First Aid school-medic training 😉Under read more for length! Also, trigger warnings for blood, I suppose?

I thought this might be of interest to authors.

Wow.
The human body is fascinating
I keep telling people this shit in real life and they don’t believe me.
I’ve seen it from multiple sources, and this just adds another (albeit usually unreliable) source. This is actually legit, guys. This is how your eyes move when you’re thinking about something. It’s actually a good way to tell if someone is lying or not, because they’ll look to their left (your right, durr) when they’re constructing false memories, and to their right when they’re actually remembering them.
HOLY CRAP. SAVING THIS FOR FUTURE REF.
If I’m trying to remember a specific word I’ll turn my whole head to the right while I think about it.
NOW I CAN USE SCIENCE TO EXPLAIN WHY I TURN MY HEAD TO THE RIGHT WHILE WRITING.
My students/peers/teachers/&c. have ALWAYS pointed it out to me like it’s the weirdest thing ever HAAAA! SCIENCE!
How To Poison Your Fictional Characters
A short list of several types of poison and their effects.
So I wanted to draw this little reference to show the difference between different members of the corvidae family. It sort of got out of hand… And now I think wings are a huge pain in the ass to draw and I never want to see a bird again.
here, have wings.
Good Resources:
Puget Sound Wing and Tail Collection (where all the wing images I used came from)
Animating Bird Flight (great resource for ALL artists)
A tip from your favorite nurse
(that’d be me)
Always have eggs in your fridge
You just never know when someone will split their head open
Or cut their finger while cooking
And so on
See that membrane there?
While the blood is gushing – hold pressure and crack open an egg
Peel that there membrane off and put it on the wound (continue holding pressure)
The membrane will harden and keep the wound closed until you can get to the ER for stitches
If you even need them that is
Nature: 1, Band aids: 0
You’re welcome.
I did some research on this (because I do that now, fucking science get out) and it seems that this was done in the early 1900s somewhat frequently. It was used as a way to treat just about any kind of skin wound, from burn to cut to in at least one case an ulcer. It actually helps the wound heal not by preventing blood loss but by replacing part of the skin tissue and helping it grow.
It also helps in healing scars and reducing their visibility.
Whoah science.
Neato.
Supercool.
You’re welcome

How to give proper credit to artists without knowing who they are
I appreciate reblogging the shit out of this if anybody wouldn’t mind.
Sick of art going around and artists not getting proper credit at all.
bringing back because just had a run in with someone who was very rude to a friend of mine who asked them quite politely to source. the usual was said “I save these pictures from zerochan etc etc i can’t know all the source blah blah”
well
google magic my friend
Luckily, we all know the source of the Gif From Hell, but since this fandom seems to be source-challenged, I’m posting this for any future controversy.
(I know the majority of you are lovely and responsible people, but you don’t know pain until you look at the Discworld tag right now.)
Reblogging in the vain hope that certain reposters will see this, as well as for the trust in the statement “you don’t know pain until you look at the Discworld tag right now” because seriously.
Posting for reference, and adding additional resources: if you can’t find it on google, try either- Saucenao.com or Tineye.com, as google doesn’t tend to find things posted on pixv.
